The National Lucerne Organization have just announced the establishment of the first online lucerne trading facility for South Africa. For the first time now, lucerne producers will be able to sell lucerne lots through the NLO's online website trading facility on an auction basis.
Sellers and buyers of lucerne can now register online at the NLO website and sellers can then register lucerne lots for sale through the NLO online auction on their website. Registered buyers can then bid online on these lucerne lots and at closure of the bid period, the lot will be closed for bidding. On acceptance of the winning bid, the transaction will be concluded by the NLO between the bidder and the seller. The successful buyer then pay the seller through the NLO and delivery of the lucerne is arranged between the seller and the buyer. The buyer will be responsible for transport cost of the lucerne.
This new service by the NLO will enable producers to achieve market related prices for their lucerne products and according to Mr Derick Engelbrecht, the new system promise to deliver an important service to lucerne producers and consumers of lucerne.
The procedure for taking part in the online auction facility is briefly as follows:
- Go to the NLO website at www.lusern.org
- Register as member of the website.
- If you are a seller of lucerne, log in after registration and register the lucerne lots you wish to sell. The lots will then be listed on the online auction page.
- Buyers can then sign in after registration and bid on the different lucerne lots for sale.
- After closure of the auction period, bidding will close and the transaction will be concluded between the successful bidder and the seller.
For immediate release.
