The Eastern and Southern Africa Dairy Association (ESADA) is pleased to announce the admission of the Milk Producers Organisation of South Africa (MPOSA). MPOSA brings the ESADA chapters to eight (8) including namely, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Mauritius and now South Africa. ESADA is in the processing of enlisting Ethiopia, Egypt, Madagascar, Sudan and Zimbabwe to its membership before the close of the year. This will make ESADA a strong voice for the dairy sector to advance the interests of all the stakeholders in the region.

Milk Producers Association of South Africa is a voluntary democratic organisation created by milk producers to protect their mutual interests and to serve as a mouth piece for them. It is currently one of the most successful and dynamic producers' organisation in South Africa. Its vision is "to be the best producers' organisation in the world" About 82% of all milk producers in South Africa are members of the MPOSA.

MPOSA Mission; "The rendering of innovative and excellent services to the milk producers and related industries by way of dedicated professional employees, who promotes the efficiency of the their members, to heighten the prosperity of the producers and thus make a contribution to the quality of life of the land and its people"

MPOSA has continued to strengthen the milk producers' situation in South Africa. The establishment of Agri Inspec, AgriBonus, Agri Connect, Agri Travel and Tours and the Intervet MPO Institute of Technology has given the South African dairy industry a real boost. In pursuit of enhancing member services, MPOSA organizes South Africa large herd conference and All Africa Dairy Expo which gives participant unrivaled opportunity to share knowledge and information.

MPO protects the macro environment of the producers by checking both legal imports and occasional dumping of dairy products as well as fighting illegal imports.

Main Objective; Rendering of supportive and related services to the milk producers of South Africa

Objective: The supplying of supportive and related services to the milk producers of Southern Africa, which includes research, training and advise with regard to economical, financial, statistical, secretarial, administrative, inspective, accounting, public relations, industrial relations, health and educational services, regulation and legal services in relation to the primary dairy industry.

Functions: The promotion of the milk producers' interests is cardinal to the activities of the MPO. This organisation assures that the producers' voice is heard on all levels and that negative presumptions are addressed and positive results pursued. The organisation aims to better relations between the primary and secondary industries.

ESADA would like to congratulate MPO for joining ESADA and we strongly believe that both organisations have a lot to learn from each other.
