Meru Central Cooperative Union emerges the winner
Meru Central Dairy Cooperative Union full cream plain yoghurt emerged the best dairy product in the E.A. Dairy Championship held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Carnivore ground during the 2nd Cheese and Wine festival as well as the best yoghurt during the championship. Blue cheese from brown cheese was the best cheese in the championship.
A panel of five judges led by Kobus Mulder, (a cheese guru from South Africa) inspected over 65 products from 11 companies in the 
region. The championship was aimed at inspecting the local dairy product with a view of recommendation to the processors on areas they needed to improve to enhance the competitiveness of their products. To view winners in all other classes click here
Cheese festival,
The E.A. Cheese and wine festival attracted 20 local exhibitors. The Carnivore ground turned into a little piece of
heaven for cheese and other dairies and wine-lovers.
On September 14, 2007 (the day before the cheese festival), Kobus Mulder facilitated a one day cultured dairy seminar which was very well received. The seminar was very interactive and those who attended were keen to have a repeat of the same more regularly. To download the presentation, please click here.
